more funky chaos Posted by Picasa

c h a o s

i like all my stuff and a little chaos in my work space...this was taken some time ago but is very typical of how i work ....i tend to pull everything out to see how things 'go' with other things...perhaps an attempt to integrate and incorporate everything...i really enjoy the re-ordering process (when i finally get around to it) ...regrouping stacking processing things ...tho i usually get creative inspiration from the cleaning process thus the orderliness does not last long as off i go again making a big mess...making stuff!! i'm looking forward to blogging i think it will help to consolidate and organise what i do...which is quite chaotic and undesigned ......i love to create stuff....i love messy artistic expresssions as well as beautifully crafted things ( i do messy much more successfully than beautifully crafted tho )...i want to do more messy journalling on paper and translate that here...but also i am busy with my fabrics which i love....i love selling my clothes at the markets it's such a buzz for me when someone tries on one of my pieces...looks wonderful...loves it...and takes it home to play in...my designs are very cut and paste...fun...recycling and making do are key ....i love vintage...and crusty old things...but also shiny and new
then there is the hard stuff...
found object sculpture...jewels..
mosaic...plaster...stone sculpture ...our house...renovating and redesigning...
then there are the 'domestic arts' which are improving...i don't run a very organised home (tho proud to say i am improving)...i don't clean often enough...i don't iron...i hardly ever cook...washing i'm just getting a handle on...so complicated this task of washing...sorting so you don't wash towels with black t shirts...choosing the right cycle...remembering to then go and hang it out on the line rather than leaving it for 2 days in the washing machine...remembering then too to bring it all back in again so it doesn't become bleached and crusty from the sun...sorting it all again...folding it and then finding where everything goes...it's an amazing never ending cycle which i'm just beginning to love and come to peace with...ditto the washing up ...but that's another story... : )

i'm dreamily aspiring to a time when my days will be rythmical like the washing machine and long and slow but creative and productive...organised and structured...playing creatively within that...centred around my home and my workspace...which by nature flow into each other...i've thought about getting a shed way out in the back corner of the yard...to get away from everything and focus...but really i love the way family and home infiltrate my art and work... i can't / don't want to seperate them...
